Magic Words Recognition Tests are a quick and easy way to check each student’s progress in learning the high frequency words Magic Words. The essential words in learning to read and write.
As students return to school, it is important to know how many words they know automatically (i.e. can recognise and say within 3 seconds without sounding out).
- Record responses on the Magic Words Record Form
- Score the total number of words
- Number of words is a strong predictor of test level
- Triangulate data and check score against Australian Benchmarks
The number of words a student knows should confirm, and correlate with their Reading Text Level.
